Sunday’s Sermon

Ecclesiastes 5:8-20 relate what the Preacher sees as the danger of
desires, here, primarily greed. How does that apply to us today?

Look at these other passages as well:
Joshua 7:10-26; Philippians 3:1-11; Hebrews 12:1-6

In Joshua 7, we see sin of Achan, taking something that was forbidden. As
then, so now, it comes down to what is appealing to the eyes, to the
appetites, or for wisdom. For Achan, it was beautiful and a source of
wealth.

In Phillipians 3, we what Paul had to boast about. But in the end, it’s
all loss to know Christ. Is that how we view our place in the world?

Finally, in Hebrews 12, we have the exhortation to run, given the “great
cloud of witnesses” mentioned throughout Hebrews 11. What has following
Christ cost us? For our fore bearers, it was a great price. We have the
luxury of great freedoms. I pray we don’t let our freedom take precedence
over our faith.

I look forward to seeing you Sunday.

Solo Deo Gloria,
jason
