Mark 10:32-34

Dear folks,

Our scheduled missionaries called tonight saying due to car trouble illness, they are not able to come this week-end. We will have to see them sometime in the summer.
I want you to read Isaiah 50, Mark 10:32-34 and 2 Corinthians 4:7-18. Isaiah 50 is the third of the suffering Servant passages. Note especially Isaiah 50:4-9 for a description of the thinking of Jesus as he contemplates the Cross. Verse 6 does not fit Israel or the prophets but certainly describes the treatment Jesus received from the Jews and the Romans.
People are described as clay and God as the Rock of our salvation. Think of the characteristics of clay compared to a rock, that is the difference between depending on God rather than man. The Corinthian passage begins with Paul as clay and based on that truth Paul calls for total dependence on the Lord whose strength is perfected by our weakness. (2 Corinthians 12:1-10)
I am sorry for being so late with this note, but it could not be helped. I trust you will be prepared to hear the Word better on Sunday by being getting prepared on Saturday.

Your Pastor,

Lee
