Sunday, April 26th Sermon
Dear friends,
Andy Surface, who will graduate this Spring from HSC, will be
preaching. Is it good for a Christian not to smoke, drink alcohol, go
to movies, eat meat, drive a red car, own a TV, and so on. We need
the light of the Word to shine on the gray areas of Christian living,
those things where good Christians differ. Food, clothes and social
activities have so many variations and one wonders if there is one
right way all Christians should follow. I think it would be helpful
in these matters to read carefully Romans 14 and 1 Corinthians 8 for
guiding principles. Lastly take a careful look at John 15, especially
see how abiding in the vine is relevant to these issues. Living in
the character of Jesus is essential to truthful Christian living.
Having those chapters in our mind we will be ready to consider Andy’s
exhortation this Sunday. We need the collective wisdom of the church
to walk harmlessly and humbly before others. Our life needs to be an
example and encouragement to our fellow Christians lest we be a
stumbling block and a hindrance to others. Let’s not give up in
prayer, but ask God to bless us all together as we learn from His Word
through the Spirit.
See you Sunday,
Lee
