Communion this Sunday

Dear Friends,

“Give us this day our daily bread” is well known as the call of Jesus to acknowledge that all we have comes from His gracious hand. James teaches “every blessing comes down from the Father of lights in whom there is no shadow of turning”.

The Lord’s Supper is a reminder that our righteousness comes from Christ alone. We need to know this lest we think it is our good works that make us favorable to God.

Look at these verses where the phrase “breaking of bread” is used. Ask: when, what, who, why questions. Luke 24:35; Acts 2:24, 46, 20:7 & 11, and 1 Corinthians 10:16.

Is this a regular meal or a sacred meal? Is Communion at the end of a normal meal? How often should we do this? Wrestle with these questions.Of course we have traditions which we follow, but I want us to be Bereans who know what we believe and why.

See you Sunday as in obedience to Christ we “remember the Lord’s death until He comes.”
