Sunday Notes, September 6, 2009, Second Service
In Mark we will examine the temptation of Christ in 1:12-13. Read the fuller account in Matthew 4:1-11. This is an incredibly rich section of Scripture as it highlights the importance of knowing the Bible so we can resist the evil one. Jesus three times says “It is written”. When the next temptation comes to us find Scripture as a defense against the enticement to do evil. The promise is “resist the evil one and he will flee from you.”
I hope this Sunday many will profit from the encouragement to prayer and the example of Jesus in not yielding to temptation.
