Dear friends,
Prayer is any communion with God be it praise, thanksgiving, asking, etc. When the disciples ask Jesus how to pray he responded with:
“Our Father in heaven,
hallowed be your name.
10 Your kingdom come,
your will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven.
11 Give us this day our daily bread,
12 and forgive us our debts,
as we also have forgiven our debtors.
13 And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
I think it would be helpful to our prayer life to use this as a template for our daily prayer. Go through each line; it is helpful because we have a tendency to jump immediately to the gimmie gimmie part of prayer. Yesterday we read Psalm 8 to show His majesty which we need to grasp so we can make God’s Name holy. This way of praying keeps us focused on the Lord and His glory. Put this into practice.
