		<itunes:summary>Dear friends,

Joseph has his first dramatic confrontation with his brothers who sold him into slavery. Read this classic story in Genesis 42 and look for these themes found in the following questions.

1. How do you see their guilty conscience showing itself? Look for the incriminating accusatory statements.

2. How do you see God working out His providential purposes through this story?

3. How do we know Joseph never lost his tender affection for his brothers?

4. Why did Joseph take such a hard attitude toward his brothers?

5. Why did Jacob not let Benjamin go down to Egypt?

I hope these thoughts will help you to think clearly through this chapter, and
see how the Lord works out His own purposes through the decisions of ordinary people. How does your life reflect and engage these universal themes of guilt and the will of God?

See you Sunday,

<itunes:summary>Joseph, for all his troubles - betrayal, racial prejudice, unfair treatment, and seemingly unnoticed virtue - is now vindicated. (Genesis 41) One day he is rotting in prison, the next day, Prime Minister of Egypt. All his experiences paved the way for his prudent, loyal and humble service; he had found Godrsquo;s purpose for his life. What about you and me? Have we found our reason for living? Have all the events of our life been woven into something beautiful for God? Have we been broken to the point that only the Lord can put us back together? Consider Luke 7:1-10, what is great faith and how is personal brokenness a part of this?
	Promotion and justice come from the Lord as Psalm 75 so eloquently states.These Old Testament Scriptures are written for our instruction that through endurance and through the encouragement of the Scriptures we might have hope. Notice how Joseph takes no glory for himself, but instead states plainly - Joseph answered Pharaoh, ldquo;It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh a favorable answer.rdquo;

Along with rereading Psalm 75, Luke 7:1-10 and Genesis 41 this week consider these points:
	* What are areas in our life where we need to do what is right and leave the results to the Lord?
	* What can we learn from Josephrsquo;s economic program to help our family financial planning?
	* James, Johnrsquo;s brother, was beheaded by Herod, but Peter was rescued by the Lordrsquo;s angel. (Acts 12) We can trust our Heavenly Father not to abandon us, but what about James? Did Joseph feel distraught in prison?

This is a rich chapter on lifersquo;s unfairness and ultimate reward for virtue. Letrsquo;s pray together Christ will give us wisdom as we consider these things.

See you Sunday,

<itunes:summary>Unless you come as a child...

Lee has been preaching inspired sermons on the life of Joseph. One fascinating aspect of Joseph's life is his calling as a child. He was just a boy when he began having dreams.

Samuel, David, and others were also called as children. They weren't given child-size roles to play but truly significant roles, sometimes because adults had dropped the ball. When God needs someone with real faith and a willingness to do things His way, he often turns to a child.

Children are often overlooked, or if they are valued at all it's for their future potential, not for today. Not so in God's perspective. Jesus sternly rebuked his disciples when they tried to keep children away.

Please meditate on Jesus' attitudes toward children (Matt. 18:1-14, Matt. 19:13-15, Matt. 21:14-16, Mark 9:33-37, Mark 10:13-16). Also give some thought on how we can better integrate children into the life of our fellowship. Then on Sunday, let's all "come as a child" and experience God as only a fully trusting child is able.

Outline:
Smooth stones and millstones
Boy oh boy...do these boys have faith!
It takes a child to raise a village
Dual duty, dual delight
Welcome, Jesus!</itunes:summary>
