		<itunes:summary>This Sunday at the first service, we'll be looking at Ecclesiastes 9. There, the Preacher examines more closely a life lived enjoying the blessings of God. For many Christians, this is the embodiment of the first question of the Westminster Shorter Catechism.

What is man's chief end?
Man's chief end is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

As we prepare to listen to God's word and explore its depths, take time to read the following.

Psalm 23 is a familiar psalm, memorized by many. As you read it again, pay attention to the motif of being welcomed into a heavenly meal with the Lord. Note what it looks like to have this meal in the presence of enemies. Some of the same imagery is found in Ecclesiastes 9.

John 2:1-12 is the familiar story of the miracle at the wedding in Cana. In this story, there is the obvious, but often overlooked celebration and enjoyment. What does a celebration look like for us? Does it honor God? Is our enjoyment primarily in Him?

1 Corinthians 1:18-31 reminds us what our wisdom is. It's easy to take an Enlightenment view of wisdom: much learning. But Biblical wisdom, this is not. Rather for us, it's the word made flesh, folly to the Gentiles and a stumbling block to Jews, as Paul says (1 Cor 1:23).

I look forward to seeing you this Sunday.

Solo Deo Gloria,

		<itunes:summary>Dear friends,

This Sunday we will look at who not to associate with as a Christian because it is not honoring to the Lord nor helpful to that person.
1 Corinthians 5:9-13;
2 Thessalonians 3: 6  13-15;
2 John 10-11.

Fellowship is crucial to a normal Christian life; without it we are disobedient and die away from walking with the Lord. Look over these passages carefully, study them and think how they apply to your life. These are Scriptures to be obeyed with all our heart and wisdom.

At the second service I will begin a series in the Gospel of Mark. We will begin in 1:1-8.

First service at 10
Brunch at 11:15 followed by sharing and prayer.
Second service -- 12:30-1

Lee

Note: The audio presented here is from the second service at FBF on August 16th. Based on Mark 1, Pastor Lee looks at the beginning of the Gospel.</itunes:summary>

		<itunes:summary>Today, we had the privilege to have a friend of many at FBF preach for us: Kevin Wirt. Listen to Kevin's sermon from Acts 6:1-7. It's wonderful to see in Acts how united the early church was over such a possibly contentious issue. This sadly tends to be a rare thing in the church today for certain. So, take a listen and find encouragement to be at peace in your fellowship with other believers.

		<itunes:summary>Ecclesiastes 8 presents two troubles that the Preacher sees in the world: one, the Trouble with Kings and two, the Trouble with Mercy. The preacher doesn't leave us with simply the problems, but offers a solution. As we look at Ecclesiastes, read Job 9:1-5 where we see Job's rebuttal to Bildad's argument that Job should repent of some sin. Job's response reveals a deep and solidly grounded knowledge of who the Lord is.
Next, we look at Luke 12:1-5. Here, Jesus relates two great truths to us: one, that all deeds and words will be made clear and exposed, and two, that the only one to fear is God, who has the capacity to cast one into Hell after death.
Finally, we read Ephesians 4:1-8, in which Paul relates truth regarding the unity of the church. In these verses, we see characteristics of all believers, as well as the gift of Jesus to all believers: grace.
As you listen to the word of the Lord, my prayer is that by this, you will be more solidly established with in your faith.
