ROMANS 4:13-16
13  The promise to Abraham and to his offspring
that he would be heir of the world
did not come through the law
but through the righteousness of faith.
14 For if it is only the adherents of the law
who are to be the heirs,
faith is null and the promise is void.
15 For the law brings wrath,
but where there is no law there is no transgression.

16 That is why it depends on faith,
in order that the promise may rest on grace
and be guaranteed to all his offspring—
not only to the one who adheres to the law
but also to the one who shares the faith of Abraham,
who is the father of us all.

How firm a foundation, ye saints of the Lord,
is laid for your faith in his excellent word!
What more can he say than to you he hath said,
to you who for refuge to Jesus have fled?

“Fear not, I am with thee, O be not dismayed,
for I am thy God and will still give thee aid;
I’ll strengthen and help thee, and cause thee to stand
upheld by my righteous, omnipotent hand.

“When through the deep waters I call thee to go,
the rivers of woe shall not thee overflow;
for I will be with thee, thy troubles to bless,
and sanctify to thee thy deepest distress.

“When through fiery trials thy pathways shall lie,
my grace, all-sufficient, shall be thy supply;
the flame shall not hurt thee; I only design
thy dross to consume, and thy gold to refine.”

“The soul that on Jesus hath leaned on repose,
I will not, I will not desert to its foes;
That soul, though all hell should endeavor to shake,
I’ll never—no, never—no, never forsake!”

FOREVER (from Psalm 118) by Chris Tomlin
Give thanks to the Lord,
Our God and King!
His love endures forever,
For He is good, He is above all things.
His love endures forever.
Sing praise, sing praise!

With a mighty hand
And an outstretched arm
His love endures forever.
For the life that’s been reborn,
His love endures forever.
Sing praise, sing praise!

Forever God is faithful,
Forever God is strong,
Forever God is with us,
Forever, forever!

From the rising to the setting sun
His love endures forever,
And by the grace of God
We will carry on.
His love endures forever.
Sing praise, sing praise!

YOUR LOVE, OH LORD, by Brad Avery, David Carr, Mac Powell, Mark Lee
Your love, oh Lord, reaches to the heavens;
Your faithfulness stretches to the sky.
Your righteousness is like the mighty mountains;
Your justice flows like the ocean tide.

And I will lift my voice to worship you, my king,
And I will find my strength in the shadow of your wings.

Scripture Nehemiah 8:1-12

Sermon Moses’ Motivational Message at Moab
Deuteronomy 31-32

ONE BIG IDEA: As we are led by God and his word,  we will be both comforted and challenged.

1) We are empowered to lead and to serve by the strength of our sovereign leader.

2) As our perfect leader, God gives us precise direction in his word.

3) God is faithful to his promises—in provision, in judgement, and in restoration.

I WILL DELIGHT by Walt Harrah and John A. Schreiner
I will delight in the law of the Lord,
I will meditate day and night.
Then, like a tree firmly planted,
I’ll be grounded in Your Word. (repeat)

Blessed is the one who follows
the way of the Lord;
Blessed is the one.

Jesus, Jesus: holy and anointed one, Jesus.
Jesus, Jesus: risen and exalted one, Jesus.

Your name is like honey on my lips,
Your spirit like water to my soul,
Your word is a lamp unto my feet.
Jesus, I love you, I love you.

HIS MERCY IS MORE by Matt Boswell and Matt Papa
What love could remember no wrongs we have done?
Omniscient, all knowing, He counts not their sum—
Thrown into a sea without bottom or shore,
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more.

Praise the Lord! His mercy is more!
Stronger than darkness, new every morn,
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more.

What patience would wait as we constantly roam,
What Father so tender is calling us home,
He welcomes the weakest, the vilest, the poor—
Our sins they are many His mercy is more.

What riches of kindness He lavished on us,
His blood was the payment, His life was the cost.
We stood ‘neath a debt we could never afford,
Our sins they are many, His mercy is more.
