CALL TO WORSHIP

PHILIPPIANS 2 (NKJV)
Therefore if there is any consolation in Christ,
if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit,
if any affection and mercy,  fulfill my joy
by being like-minded, having the same love,
being of one accord, of one mind.
Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit,
but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others
better than himself. Let each of you look out
not only for his own interests,
but also for the interests of others.
Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,
who, being in the form of God,
did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,
but made Himself of no reputation,
taking the form of a bondservant,
and coming in the likeness of men.
And being found in appearance as a man,
He humbled Himself and became obedient
to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
Therefore God also has highly exalted Him
and given Him the name which is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
of those in heaven, and of those on earth,
and of those under the earth,
and that every tongue should confess
that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.

PRAISE & WORSHIP

SONG FOR THE NATIONS by Chris Christensen
May we be a shining light to the nations,
a shining light to the peoples of the earth;
till the whole world sees the glory of your name,
may your pure light shine through us.

May we bring a word of hope to the nations,
a word of life to the peoples of the earth;
till the whole world knows there’s salvation through your name,
may your mercy flow through us.

May we be a healing balm to the nations,
a healing balm to the peoples of the earth;
till the whole world knows the power of your name,
may your healing flow through us.

May we sing a song of joy to the nations,
a song of praise to the peoples of the earth;
till the whole world rings with the praises of your name,
may your song be sung through us.

May your kingdom come to the nations,
your will be done to the peoples of the earth;
till the whole world knows that Jesus Christ is Lord,
may your kingdom come in us.

EVERLASTING by Brian Doerksen and Matt Unruh
From everlasting to everlasting, You are God;
From everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

In holiness You stand secure through culture’s shifting sands,
unchanged by all the vanities of man;
And as the nations rise and fall, Your sovereignty remains;
You are, You are, You are the one true God.

From everlasting to everlasting, You are God;
From everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

In faithfulness Your love extends through times of turbulence,
adopting those who call upon Your name;
And every generation joins in songs of grateful praise;
You are, You are, You are the one true God.

From everlasting to everlasting, You are God;
From everlasting to everlasting, You are God.

Eternal, immortal, invisible God. (repeat)

GOD OF WONDERS by Marc Byrd & Steve Hindalong
Lord of all creation, of water, earth, and sky,
The heavens are your tabernacle;
Glory to the Lord on high!

God of wonders beyond our galaxy,
you are Holy, Holy;
The universe declares your majesty:
you are Holy, Holy,
Lord of heaven and earth,
Lord of heaven and earth.

Early in the morning, I will celebrate the light;
When I stumble in the darkness, I will call your name by night.

Hallelujah to the Lord of heaven and earth;
Hallelujah to the Lord of heaven and earth.

MINISTRY OF THE WORD

Scripture Psalm 29

Sermon: Walking Straight Paths
Deuteronomy 4 and 5

SERMON NOTES

ONE BIG IDEA
The path of blessing lies in walking in the love of God.

1) Seek the one true God with your all.

2) Our proper response to the love of God is this—
love God and love one another.

3) Walk with awe in the ways of the one whose glory
and majesty are above all.

RESPONSE TO THE PREACHED WORD

I WILL FOLLOW by Chris Tomlin
Where you go, I’ll go;
Where you stay, I’ll stay;
When you move, I’ll move.
I will follow you.
Whom you love, I’ll love;
How you serve, I’ll serve.
If this life I lose, I will follow you,
I will follow you.

All your ways are good,
All your ways are sure.
I will trust in you alone.
Higher than my sight,
High above my life;
I will trust in you alone.

Light into the world,Light into my life—
I will live for you alone.
You’re the one I seek, knowing I will find
All I need in you alone, in you alone.

In you there’s life everlasting,In you there’s freedom for my soul;
In you there’s joy, unending joy and I will follow you.

CONGREGATIONAL PRAYER

Please remember that this song is a prayer.

AMERICA THE BEAUTIFUL (HYMN 531) by Katharine Lee Bates, 1913
O beautiful for spacious skies, for amber waves of grain,
For purple mountain majesties above the fruited plain!
America! America! God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for pilgrim feet whose stern impassioned stress
A thoroughfare of freedom beat across the wilderness!
America! America! God mend thine every flaw,
Confirm thy soul in self-control, thy liberty in law!

O beautiful for heroes proved in liberating strife,
Who more than self their country loved and mercy more than life!
America! America! May God thy gold refine
Till all success be nobleness and every gain divine!

O beautiful for patriot dream that sees beyond the years
Thine alabaster cities gleam undimmed by human tears!
America! America! God shed his grace on thee
And crown thy good with brotherhood from sea to shining sea!
