CALL TO WORSHIP

PSALM 145:1-13a
Great is the Lord

1 I will extol you, my God and King,
and bless your name forever and ever.
2 Every day I will bless you and praise your name forever and ever.
3 Great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised,
and his greatness is unsearchable.

4 One generation shall commend your works to another,
and shall declare your mighty acts.
5 On the glorious splendor of your majesty,
and on your wondrous works, I will meditate.
6 They shall speak of the might of your awesome deeds,
and I will declare your greatness.
7 They shall pour forth the fame of your abundant goodness
and shall sing aloud of your righteousness.

8 The Lord is gracious and merciful,
slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love.
9 The Lord is good to all, and his mercy is over all that he has made.

10 All your works shall give thanks to you, O Lord,
and all your saints shall bless you!
11 They shall speak of the glory of your kingdom and tell of your power,
12 to make known to the children of man your mighty deeds,
and the glorious splendor of your kingdom.
13 Your kingdom is an everlasting kingdom,
and your dominion endures throughout all generations.

PRAISE & WORSHIP

HOSANNA!, HOSANNA! by Cathy Townley
(This is a call and response song. Leader sings the words in normal type
and Congregation sings the words in
bold)

Jesus rode into Jerusalem.

   Hosanna! Hosanna!

All the people sang their praise to him.

   Hosanna! Hosanna!

Came to town upon a donkey’s back;

   Hosanna! Hosanna!

Seemed so lowly but he’s Lord in fact.

   Hosanna! Hosanna!

   Hosanna! Hear the people say Hosanna!

   Save us today. Hosanna!
   It’s a faithful song. Hosanna! Sing it all night long!

Everybody brought their hopes and dreams.

   Hosanna! Hosanna!

Life just isn’t always what it seems.

   Hosanna! Hosanna!

Need somebody who can help us be;

   Hosanna! Hosanna!

Liberated from captivity.

   Hosanna! Hosanna!

RESPONSIVE READING

Worship Leader: As the time approached for Him to be taken up
to heaven, Jesus resolutely set out for Jerusalem. As He went along, people spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road. When He came near the place where the road goes down the Mount of Olives,
the whole crowd of disciples began joyfully to praise God
in loud voices for all the miracles they had seen:

Everyone: “Blessed is the King who comes
                    in the name of the Lord!”

Worship Leader: The crowds that went ahead of Him
and those that followed shouted:

Everyone: “Hosanna to the Son of David!”
“Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!”
“Hosanna in the highest!”

IN THE NAME OF THE LORD by Sandi Patty, Phill McHugh, Gloria Gaither
There is strength in the name of the Lord.
There is pow’r in the name of the Lord.
There is hope in the name of the Lord.
Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord!

GLORY AND HONOR by Twila Paris
We are the servants of the only King,     He is worthy!
Given dominion over ev’rything.    He is worthy!

We will declare it with one voice,
We will stand up and make a holy noise,
And make a holy noise.

Glory and honor, glory and power,  glory and honor unto the Lamb!
Glory and honor, glory forever, glory and honor unto the Lamb!

We offer Him a sacrifice of praise.   He is worthy!
No one among us is above His grace.   He is worthy!

We will declare it with one voice:
He has become the reason we rejoice,  the reason we rejoice.

Glory honor and power be to the Lamb of God forever and ever!
Glory honor and power Be to the Lamb forever!

The Son of Heaven who would die for us,    He is worthy!
Eternal Word of God alive in us,    He is worthy!

We will declare it with one voice,
We will declare that we have made our choice,
and make a holy noise.

WE WILL GLORIFY by Twila Paris (Just verses 1 and 4)
We will glorify the King of Kings, we will glorify the Lamb;
We will glorify the Lord of Lords, who is the great I am.
Hallelujah to the King of Kings, Hallelujah to the Lamb;
Hallelujah to the Lord of Lords, who is the great I am.

RESPONSE TO THE WORD

HOSANNA by Carl Tuttle
Hosanna, Hosanna, Hosanna in the highest!
Lord, we lift up your name with hearts full of praise;
Be exalted, oh Lord my God! Hosanna in the highest!

Lord, we lift up your name with hearts full of praise;
Be exalted, oh Lord my God! Glory to the King of kings!

CONGREGATIONAL PRAYER

HOSANNA, LOUD HOSANNA (HYMN 107)
Hosanna, loud hosanna, the little children sang;
Through pillared court and temple the lovely anthem rang;
To Jesus, who had blessed them, close folded to His breast,
The children sang their praises, the simplest and the best.

From Olivet they followed ’mid an exultant crowd,
The victor palm branch waving, and chanting clear and loud;
The Lord of men and angels rode on in lowly state,
Nor scorned that little children should on His bidding wait.

“Hosanna in the highest!” That ancient song we sing,
For Christ is our Redeemer, the Lord of heav’n, Our King;
O may we ever praise Him with heart and life and voice,
And in His blissful presence eternally rejoice!
