CALL TO WORSHIP

ISAIAH 55:1-5
1 “Come, everyone who thirsts, come to the waters;
and he who has no money, come, buy and eat!
Come, buy wine and milk
without money and without price.
2 Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread,
and your labor for that which does not satisfy?
Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good,
and delight yourselves in rich food.
3 Incline your ear, and come to me;
hear, that your soul may live;
and I will make with you an everlasting covenant,
my steadfast, sure love for David.
4 Behold, I made him a witness to the peoples,
a leader and commander for the peoples.
5 Behold, you shall call a nation that you do not know,
and a nation that did not know you
shall run to you,
because of the Lord your God, and of the Holy One of Israel,
for he has glorified you.

PRAISE & WORSHIP

WORSHIP THE KING (Ascension Sunday)

OPEN THE EYES OF MY HEART, LORD by Paul Baloche
Open the eyes of my heart, Lord!
Open the eyes of my heart, Lord!
I want to see you, I want to see you:

See you high and lifted up,
shining in the light of your glory.
Pour out your power and love
as we sing Holy, Holy, holy;
Holy, holy, holy, Holy, holy, holy, Holy, holy, holy.
I want to see you.

WORTHY, YOU ARE WORTHY by Don Moen
Worthy, you are worthy:
King of kings, Lord of lords, you are worthy.
Worthy, you are worthy:
King of kings, Lord of lords, I worship you.

Holy, you are holy:
King of kings, Lord of lords, you are holy.
Holy, you are holy:
King of kings, Lord of lords, I worship you.

Jesus, you are Jesus:
King of kings, Lord of lords, you are Jesus.
Jesus, you are Jesus:
King of kings, Lord of lords, I worship you.

WORSHIP THE KING MEDLEY:  O WORSHIP THE KING; COME, THOU ALMIGHTY KING; REJOICE THE LORD IS KING
O worship the King, all glorious above,
And gratefully sing His pow’r and His love;
Our Shield and Defender, the Ancient of Days,
Pavilioned in splendor and girded with praise.

Come, thou almighty King,
Help us thy name to sing, help us to praise:
Father all-glorious, o’er all victorious,
Come and reign over us, Ancient of Days.

To the great One in Three
Eternal praises be, hence evermore:
His sov’reign majesty may we in glory see,
And to eternity love and adore.

Rejoice, the Lord is King:
your Lord and King adore!
Rejoice, give thanks and sing
and triumph evermore:
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!

His kingdom cannot fail,
He rules o’er earth and heaven;
The keys of death and hell are to our Jesus given:
Lift up your heart, lift up your voice;
Rejoice, again I say, rejoice!

AMAZING LOVE (YOU ARE MY KING) by Billy Foote
I’m forgiven because you were forsaken;
I’m accepted, you were condemned;
I’m alive and well—your spirit lives within me
Because you died and rose again.

Amazing love! How can it be
That you, my king, would die for me?
Amazing love—I know it’s true
And it’s my joy to honor you: In all I do I honor you.

You are my king! You are my king!
Jesus, You are my king. Jesus, You are my king.

MINISTRY OF THE WORD

Scripture: Revelation 21:1-6

SERMON: The Cure for Thirst
Luke 16:19-31

ONE BIG IDEA

Our choices here and now echo throughout eternity.

1) Our worldly position does not determine our eternal position.

2) Our time to respond to the gospel message is limited.

3) There is life in the word of the Lord.

RESPONSE TO THE WORD

CHRIST, OUR HOPE IN LIFE AND DEATH by Keith Getty, Matt Boswell, Jordan Kauflin, Matt Merker, Matt Papa
What is our hope in life and death?
Christ alone, Christ alone.
What is our only confidence?
That our souls to him belong.
Who holds our days within his hand?
What comes, apart from his command?
And what will keep us to the end?
The love of Christ, in which we stand.

O sing hallelujah! Our hope springs eternal;
O sing hallelujah! Now and ever we confess
Christ, our hope in life and death.

What truth can calm the troubled soul?
God is good, God is good.
Where is his grace and goodness known?
In our great Redeemer’s blood.
Who holds our faith when fears arise?
Who stands above the stormy trial?
Who sends the waves that bring us nigh
Unto the shore, the rock of Christ?

Unto the grave, what shall we sing?
“Christ, he lives; Christ, he lives!”
And what reward will heaven bring?
Everlasting life with him.
There we will rise to meet the Lord,
Then sin and death will be destroyed,
And we will feast in endless joy,
When Christ is ours forevermore.

CONGREGATIONAL PRAYER

WORTHY IS THE LAMB by Darlene Zschech
Thank You for the cross, Lord,
thank You for the price You paid!
Bearing all my sin and shame, in love You came
and gave amazing grace.

Thank You for this love, Lord.
Thank You for the nail-pierced hands,
Washed me in Your cleansing flow. Now all I know—
Your forgiveness and embrace.

Worthy is the Lamb seated on the throne;
We crown You now with many crowns!
You reign victorious high and lifted up,
Jesus Son of God, the darling of heaven crucified!
Worthy is the Lamb! Worthy is the Lamb!

Crown Him with many crowns,
The Lamb upon His throne;
Hark!  How the heav’nly anthem drowns
All music but its own!
Awake, my soul, and sing
Of Him who died for thee,
And hail Him as thy matchless King
Through all eternity.
