NEW TIME: For a livestream of the service, click here at 9 am on Sunday morning. Afterwards it will be available at the same link as a recording. If it doesn’t work properly at 9, it might mean we had a technical issue. If so, we will send out a new link to the recording.

CALL TO WORSHIP
The Righteousness of God Through Faith
21 Now the righteousness of God has been manifested
apart from the law, although the Law and the Prophets
bear witness to it—
22 the righteousness of God through faith in Jesus Christ
for all who believe. For there is no distinction:
23 all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,
24 and are justified by his grace as a gift,
through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus,
25 whom God put forward as a propitiation by his blood,
to be received by faith.
This was to show God’s righteousness,
because in his divine forbearance
he had passed over former sins.
26 It was to show his righteousness at the present time,
so that he might be just
and the justifier of the one who has faith in Jesus.
PRAISE & WORSHIP
WONDERFUL, MERCIFUL SAVIOR by Dawn Rogers and Eric Wyse
Wonderful, merciful Savior,
Precious Redeemer and Friend,
Who would have thought that a Lamb could
Rescue the souls of men?
O! you rescue the souls of men.
Counselor, Comforter, Keeper,
Spirit we long to embrace,
You offer hope when our hearts have
Hopelessly lost the way.
O! we’ve hopelessly lost the way.
You are the One we praise,
You are the One we adore;
You give the healing and grace our
hearts always hunger for,
O! our hearts always hunger for.
Almighty Infinite Father,
Faithfully loving your own,
Here in our weakness you find us
Falling before your throne.
O! we’re falling before your throne.

ONLY BY GRACE by Gerrit Gustafson
Only by grace can we enter,
Only by grace can we stand,
Not by our human endeavor
But by the blood of the Lamb.
Into Your presence you call us,
You call us to come;
Into your presence You draw us,
and now by your grace we come,
now by your grace we come.
Lord, if you mark our transgressions, who would stand?
Thanks to your grace we are cleansed
by the blood of the Lamb.

AMAZING GRACE (MY CHAINS ARE GONE) by John Newton
with chorus by Chris Tomlin & Louie Giglio
Amazing grace—how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost, but now I’m found,
Was blind, but now I see.
‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved;
How precious did that grace appear,
The hour I first believed.
My chains are gone, I’ve been set free!
My God, my Savior, has ransomed me,
And like a flood His mercy reigns:
Unending love, amazing grace.
The Lord has promised good to me,
His word my hope secures.
He will my shield and portion be
As long as life endures.
The earth shall soon dissolve like snow,
The sun forbear to shine;
But God, Who called me here below,
Will be forever mine, will be forever mine.
You are forever mine.

MINISTRY OF THE WORD
SCRIPTURE: Psalm 40:1-8
ONE BIG IDEA
In Jesus, we can experience something more,
something new, and something good.
1) Jesus sees our deepest need.
2) The presence of Jesus is to be celebrated.
3) Our worship is lived out in our concern for others.
RESPONSE TO THE PREACHED WORD
LET US CONSIDER (Hebrews 10:24) by Peter Ragonesi
Let us consider (echo) how to promote (echo)
One another to love and good works
(echo: to love and good works),
To love and good works, to love and good works,
to love and good works. Amen.

MICAH 6:8 by Bob Sklar
He has shown thee (echo), O man (echo),
what is good and what the Lord requires of thee. (Repeat).
But to do justly (echo) and to love mercy (echo)
and to walk humbly with thy God.

THE APOSTLES’ CREED (200 AD)
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth.
And in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died, and was buried.
On the third day He rose again from the dead.
He ascended into heaven
and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty.
From there He will come to judge the living
and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.
All believers are invited to share in the remembrance
of the Lord’s redemptive sacrifice on our behalf.
We welcome to the Lord’s Table all Christians
who acknowledge their sins, who trust that Christ Jesus died
for the forgiveness of their sins, who recognize that the
Bread and Wine represent the sacrifice of Christ for us,
and who desire to live a life pleasing to the Lord.

GRAPE JUICE IS GOLD; WINE IS PURPLE.
THE COMMUNION BREAD IS GLUTEN-FREE.
THE CHURCH’S ONE FOUNDATION (HYMN 186) by Samuel J. Stone (1866)
The Church’s one foundation is Jesus Christ her Lord,
She is His new creation by water and the Word.
From heaven He came and sought her to be His holy bride;
With His own blood He bought her and for her life He died.
Elect from every nation, yet one o’er all the earth;
Her charter of salvation, one Lord, one faith, one birth;
One holy Name she blesses, partakes one holy food,
And to one hope she presses, with every grace endued.
’Mid toil and tribulation and tumult of her war,
She waits the consummation of peace forevermore;
Till, with the vision glorious, her longing eyes are blest,
And the great Church victorious shall be the Church at rest.
Yet she on earth hath union with God the Three in One,
And mystic sweet communion with those whose rest is won:
O happy ones and holy! Lord, give us grace that we
Like them, the meek and lowly, on high may dwell with Thee.
