New Songs

Special Christmas Missionary Offering

Our special missionary offering this year will support The Shepherd’s Tavern, a new ministry in Madisonville, Virginia. Run by former missionaries Dave and Debbie Sanders, The Shepherd’s Tavern will be a get-away for pastors, missionaries, and any Christian workers needing “refueling” or a temporary place to stay. You can give to this offering by clicking below.

New and underused songs

These are either new songs, older songs we’ve recently resurrected, or older songs that might be worth resurrecting. They should be sung again if we want the congregation to learn them.

ABIDE WITH ME by Matt Redman
I have a home, eternal home,
But for now I walk this broken world.
You walked it first, You know our pain,
But You show hope can rise
Again up from the grave.

Abide with me, abide with me!
Don’t let me fall and don’t let go!
Walk with me and never leave!
Ever close, God, abide with me!

There in the night Gethsemane
Before the cross before the nails
Overwhelmed alone You prayed
You met us in our suffering
And bore our shame

Oh love that will not ever let me go,
Love that will not ever let me go!
You never let me go!
Love that will not ever let me go!

Well, You never let us go.
And up ahead, eternity!
We’ll weep no more, we’ll sing for joy.
Abide with me!

ALLELUIA by Chris Quilala, Ian McIntosh, Jeffrey Kunde, & Jeremy Riddle
Father, we have come to bow down in worship.
Lifting up our hearts, we bow down in praise.

Alleluia, Lover of my soul! Alleluia!
With all of heaven we are singing.

Bright and morning star, Your eyes blaze like fire,
Shining like the sun! You’re our one desire.

All the angels cry out, “Holy is the Lord (God)!”
All the earth replies, “Holy are You!”

BENEATH THE CROSS OF JESUS by Keith and Kristen Getty
Beneath the cross of Jesus
I find a place to stand,
And wonder at such mercy
That calls me as I am;
For hands that should discard me
Hold wounds which tell me, “Come.”
Beneath the cross of Jesus
My unworthy soul is won.

Beneath the cross of Jesus
His family is my own—
Once strangers chasing selfish dreams,
Now one through grace alone.
How could I now dishonor
The ones whom You have loved?
Beneath the cross of Jesus
See the children called by God.

Beneath the cross of Jesus
The path before the crown—
We follow in His footsteps
Where promised hope is found.
How great the joy before us
To be His perfect bride;
Beneath the cross of Jesus
We will gladly live our lives.

BUILD MY LIFE by Brett Younker, Karl Martin, Kirby Kaple, Matt Redman, & Pat Barrett
Worthy of ev’ry song we could ever sing,
Worthy of all the praise we could ever bring,
Worthy of ev’ry breath we could ever breathe,
We live for You!

Jesus, the name above ev’ry other name;
Jesus, the only one who could ever save;
Worthy of ev’ry breath we could ever breathe,
We live for You, we live for You!

Holy! There is no one like You,
There is none beside You!
Open up my eyes in wonder and show me who You are,
And fill me with Your heart,
And lead me in Your love to those around me!

I will build my life upon Your love.
It is a firm foundation.
I will put my trust in You alone,
And I will not be shaken.

CORNERSTONE by Edward Mote, Eric Liljero, Jonas Myrin,
Reuben Morgan, William Batchelder Bradbury
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame
But wholly trust in Jesus’ Name. (repeat)

Christ alone, cornerstone,
Weak made strong in the Saviour’s love.
Through the storm He is Lord,
Lord of all!

When darkness seems to hide His face,
I rest on His unchanging grace.
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil,
My anchor holds within the veil.

When He shall come with trumpet sound,
Oh may I then in Him be found
Dressed in His righteousness alone,
Faultless to stand before the throne!

ENOUGH by Chris Tomlin & Louie Giglio
You are my supply,
My breath of life—
Still more awesome than I know!
You are my reward,
Worth living for—
Still more awesome than I know!

All of You is more than enough for
All of me, for every thirst and every need.
You satisfy me with Your love,
And all I have in You is more than enough.

You’re my sacrifice
Of greatest price,
Still more awesome than I know!
You’re my coming King,
You are everything:
Still more awesome than I know!

More than all I want,
More than all I need,
You are more than enough for me.
More than all I know,
More than all I can see,
You are more than enough.

FOREVER (WE SING HALLELUJAH) by Brian Johnson, Kari Jobe, Jenn Johnson, Gabriel Wilson, Joel Taylor, and Christa Black Gifford
The moon and stars they wept, the morning sun was dead—
The Savior of the world was fallen.
His body on the cross, His blood poured out for us,
the weight of every curse upon Him.

One final breath He gave as heaven looked away.
The Son of God was laid in darkness.
A battle in the grave, the war on death was waged,
The power of hell forever broken.

The ground began to shake, the stone was rolled away.
His perfect love could not be overcome!
Now, death, where is your sting?
Our resurrected King has rendered you defeated.

Forever He is glorified! Forever He is lifted high!
Forever He is risen! He is alive and He is alive!
We sing hallelujah! We sing hallelujah!
We sing hallelujah! The Lamb has overcome!

GIVE YOU GLORY by Jeremy Camp
We have raised a thousand voices just to lift Your holy name.
And we will raise thousands more to sing
of Your beauty in this place.
Well, none can even fathom—no, not one define—Your worth,
As we marvel in Your presence to the ends of the earth.

We give You glory!
Lifting up our hands and singing, “Holy!”
You alone are worthy!
We just want to touch Your heart, Lord, touch Your heart.
Glory! Lifting up our voice and singing, “Holy!”
You alone are worthy!
We just want to touch Your heart, Lord, touch Your heart.

As we fall down before You with our willing hearts we seek.
In the greatness of Your glory it’s so hard to even speak.
There is nothing we can offer, no, nothing can repay.
So we give You all our praises and lift our voice to sing.
Our hope is drenched in You.
Our faith has been renewed.
We trust in Your every word.
Nothing else can even measure up to You.

GRACE by Jonny Robinson, Niki Shepherd, Rich Thompson
Your grace that leads this sinner home from death to life forever
And sings the song of righteousness by blood and not by merit—

Your grace that reaches far and wide to every tribe and nation—
Has called my heart to enter in the joy of Your salvation.

By grace I am redeemed, by grace I am restored,
And now I freely walk into the arms of Christ, my Lord.

Your grace that I cannot explain,  not by my earthly wisdom:
The prince of life without a stain was traded for this sinner!

Let praise rise up and overflow, my song resound forever!
For grace will see me welcomed home to walk beside my Saviour.

GRACE LIKE RAIN (HYMN 236 by John Newton, with chorus by Chris Collins, Edwin O. Excell, & Todd Agnew
Amazing grace, how sweet the sound
That saved a wretch like me!
I once was lost but now I’m found,
Was blind but now I see—so clearly!

Hallelujah, grace like rain falls down on me!
Hallelujah, all my stains are washed away, washed away!

‘Twas grace that taught my heart to fear
And grace my fears relieved.
How precious did that grace appear
The hour I first believed!

When we’ve been there ten thousand years,
Bright shining as the sun,
We’ve no less days to sing Your praise
Than when we first begun.

GRAVES INTO GARDENS by Brandon Lake of Elevation Worship
I searched the world, but it couldn’t fill me;
Man’s empty praise and treasures that fade
Are never enough.

Then you came along and put me back together,
And every desire is now satisfied
Here in your love.

Oh, there’s nothing better than You,
There’s nothing better than You!
Lord, there’s nothing, nothing is better than You!

I’m not afraid to show You my weakness,
My failures and flaws, Lord; You’ve seen them all
And You still call me friend.

‘Cause the God of the mountain is the God of the valley—
There’s not a place Your mercy and grace
Won’t find me again.

You turn mourning to dancing, You give beauty for ashes,
You turn shame into glory. You’re the only one who can.

You turn graves into gardens, You turn bones into armies,
You turn seas into highways.
You’re the only one who can, You’re the only one who can.

HE WILL HOLD ME FAST by Ada Ruth Henderson & Matthew Sherman Merker
When I fear my faith will fail, Christ will hold me fast!
When the tempter would prevail, He will hold me fast!
I could never keep my hold through life’s fearful path,
For my love is often cold. He must hold me fast!

He will hold me fast, He will hold me fast!
For my Saviour loves me so, He will hold me fast!

Those He saves are His delight; Christ will hold me fast!
Precious in His holy sight, He will hold me fast!
He’ll not let my soul be lost; His promises shall last.
Bought by Him at such a cost, He will hold me fast!

For my life He bled and died. Christ will hold me fast!
Justice has been satisfied. He will hold me fast.
Raised with Him to endless life, He will hold me fast
‘Til our faith is turned to sight when He comes at last!

HEAR US FROM HEAVEN by Jared Anderson
Lord, hear our cry!
Come heal our land,
Breathe life into these dry and thirsty souls!
Lord, hear our prayer: forgive our sin
And as we call on your name,
Would you make this a place
For your glory to dwell?

Open the blind eyes, unlock the deaf ears!
Come to your people as we draw near.
Hear us from heaven! Touch our generation!
We are your people crying out in desperation.

HOLY SPIRIT by Bryan and Katie Torwalt
There’s nothing worth more that will ever come close.
Nothing can compare. You’re our living hope
Your Presence!

I’ve tasted and seen of the sweetest of loves,
Where my heart becomes free and my shame is undon.e
In Your Presence, Lord!

Holy Spirit, You are welcome here!
Come flood this place and fill the atmosphere!
Your glory, God, is what our hearts long for,
To be overcome by Your Presence, Lord.

Your Presence, Lord! Your Presence!
Oh God, how we love Your Presence, Lord!

Let us become more aware of Your Presence,
Let us experience the glory of Your goodness, Lord!

HOLY SPIRIT, LIVING BREATH OF GOD
Holy Spirit, living Breath of God,
Breathe new life into my willing soul!
Let the presence of the risen Lord
Come renew my heart and make me whole!
Cause Your word to come alive in me,
Give me faith for what I cannot see,
Give me passion for Your purity!
Holy Spirit, breathe new life in me!

Holy Spirit, come abide within!
May Your joy be seen in all I do—
Love enough to cover ev’ry sin
In each thought and deed and attitude,
Kindness to the greatest and the least,
Gentleness that sows the path of peace.
Turn my strivings into works of grace!
Breath of God, show Christ in all I do!

Holy Spirit, from creation’s birth
Giving life to all that God has made,
Show Your power once again on earth!
Cause Your church to hunger for Your ways!
Let the fragrance of our pray’rs arise!
Lead us on the road of sacrifice,
That in unity the face of Christ
May be clear for all the world to see!

HYMN OF JOY (Chris Tomlin’s name for it since he added a chorus).
Joyful, joyful, we adore Thee, God of glory, Lord of love;
Hearts unfold like flow’rs before Thee, opening to the sun above.
Melt the clouds of sin and sadness, drive the dark of doubt away;
Giver of immortal gladness, fill us with the light of day!

Rejoice, rejoice! Emmanuel,
Your love has come here to dwell.

All Thy works with joy surround Thee, earth and heav’n reflect Thy rays,
Stars and angels sing around Thee, center of unbroken praise;
Field and forest, vale and mountain, bloss’ming meadow, flashing sea,
SInging bird and flowing fountain call us to rejoice in Thee.

Rejoice, rejoice! Emmanuel,
Your love has come here to dwell.

Mortals, join the mighty chorus which the morning stars began;
Father-love is reigning o’er us, brother-love binds man to man.
Ever singing, march we onward, victors in the midst of strife;
Joyful music lifts us sunward in the triumph song of life.

Rejoice, rejoice! Emmanuel,
Your love has come here to dwell.

I NEED YOU TO SURVIVE by Hezekiah Walker
I need you, you need me:
We are a part of Christ’s body.
Stand with me, agree with me:
We are a part of Christ’s body.

It is His will that ev’ry need be supplied.
You are important to me, I need you to survive.

I pray for you, you pray for me;
I love you, I need you to survive;
I won’t harm you with words from my mouth;
I love you, I need you to survive.

It is His will that ev’ry need be supplied.
You are important to me, I need you to survive;
You are important to me, I need you to survive;
You are important to me, I need you to survive.

I SEE THE LORD by Chris Faison
I see the Lord, seated on the throne, exalted!
And the train of His robe fills the temple with glory!
And the whole earth is filled, and the whole earth is filled,
And the whole earth is filled with His glory!
Holy, holy, holy, holy, holy is the Lord!
Holy, holy, holy, holy, holy is the Lord of lords!

IT IS YOU by Newsboys
As we lift up our hands, will You meet us here?
As we call on Your name, will You meet us here?
We have come to this place to worship You,
God of mercy and grace.

It is You we adore.
It is You, praises are for.
Only You, the Heavens declare:
It is You, It is You.

And Holy, Holy is our God Almighty,
And Holy, Holy is His name alone.
It is You we adore, It is You, only You.

I will sing from the mountaintop.
I will sing, “I am overcome.”
I will sing making melody.
I will sing from the valley low.
I will sing because of Your love.
I will sing, “You’re my King,”
I will sing.

KNOWING YOU by Graham Kendrick
All I once held dear, built my life upon,
All this world reveres and wars to own,
All I once thought gain, I have counted loss,
Spent and worthless now compared to this.

Knowing you, Jesus, knowing you—
There is no greater thing.
You’re my all, you’re the best,
You’re my joy, my righteousness,
And I love You, Lord.

LET US CONSIDER (Hebrews 10:24) by Peter Ragonesi
Let us consider (echo) how to promote (echo)
One another to love and good works
(echo: to love and good works),
To love and good works, to love and good works,
to love and good works. Amen.

MY SAVIOR LIVES by Jon Egan and Glenn Packiam
Our God will reign forever,
and all the world will know His name;
Everyone together
sing the song of the redeemed.

I know that my Redeemer lives,
and now I stand on what He did;
My Savior, my Savior lives;
Every day a brand new chance to say,
“Jesus, You are the only way”;
My Savior, my Savior lives.

The king has come from Heaven,
and darkness trembles at His name;
Victory forever
is the song of the redeemed.

My Savior lives, my Savior lives, my Savior lives.

MY SAVIOR, MY GOD by Aaron Shust
I am not skilled to understand
What God has willed, what God has planned;
I only know at His right hand
Stands One who is my Savior.
I take Him at his word and deed:
Christ died to save me, this I read,
And in my heart I find a need
Of Him to be my Savior.
That He would leave His place on high
And come for sinful man to die,
You count it strange; so once did I,
Before I knew my Savior.

My Savior loves, my Savior lives;
My Savior’s always there for me.
My God He was, my God He is,
My God He’s always going to be.

Yes, living, dying, let me bring
My strength, my solace from this spring!
That He who lives to be my King
Once died to be my Savior,
That He would leave His place on high
And come for sinful man to die—
You count it strange; so once did I
Before I knew my Savior!

MY WORTH IS NOT IN WHAT I OWN by Keith Getty, Kristyn Getty, Graham Kendrick
My worth is not in what I own;
not in the strength of flesh and bone,
But in the costly wounds of love
At the cross.
My worth is not in skill or name,
In win or lose, in pride or shame,
But in the blood of Christ that flowed
At the cross.

I rejoice in my Redeemer,
Greatest Treasure,
Wellspring of my soul.
I will trust in Him, no other.
My soul is satisfied in Him alone.

As summer flow’rs we fade and die;
Fame, youth, and beauty hurry by,
But life eternal calls to us
At the cross.

I will not boast in wealth or might
Or human wisdom’s fleeting light,
But I will boast in knowing Christ
At the cross.

Two wonders here that I confess:
My worth and my unworthiness,
My value fixed, my ransom paid,
At the cross.

Now my heart’s desire is to know You more,
To be found in You and known as Yours,
To possess by faith what I could not earn—
All-surpassing gift of righteousness.

SEEKERS OF YOUR HEART by Melodie Tunney, Dick Tunney, & Beverly Darnall
Until we give you first place,
Until we let you begin
To fill us with your Spirit,
Renew us from within,
Nothing matters, nothing’s gained—
Without your holy presence
Our lives are lived in vain.

Lord, we want to know you,
Live our lives to show you
All the love we owe you—
We’re seekers of your heart.

Because your heart was broken,
Because you saw the need,
Because you gave so freely,
Because of Calvary,
We can now be called your own,
Completed creations filled for you alone.

SING WE THE SONG OF EMMANUEL by Matt Boswell, Matt Papa and Stuart Townend
Gloria (repeat).

Sing we the song of Emmanuel;
This, the Christ who was long foretold.
Lo, in the shadows of Bethlehem,
Promise of dawn now our eyes behold.
God, Most High, in a manger laid.
Lift your voices and now proclaim,
“Great and glorious, Love has come to us.”
Join now with the hosts of heaven.

Come we to welcome Emmanuel,
King who came with no crown or throne.
Helpless, He lay, the Invincible.
Maker of Mary, now Mary’s son.
O, what wisdom to save us all.
Shepherds, sages, before Him fall.
Grace and majesty, what humility.
Come on bended knee, adore Him.

Go spread the news of Emmanuel.
Joy and peace for the weary heart.
Lift up your heads, for your King has come.
Sing, for the Light overwhelms the dark.
Glory shining for all to see.
Hope alive, let the gospel ring.
God has made a way. He will have the praise.
Tell the world His name is Jesus.

Gloria (repeat).

SOUL ON FIRE by Third Day
God, I’m running for Your heart, I’m running for Your heart
Till I am a soul on fire.

Lord, I’m longing for Your ways. I’m waiting for the day
When I am a soul on fire, till I am a soul on fire.

Lord, restore the joy I had, and I have wandered, bring me back!
In this darkness, lead me through until all I see is You!

Lord, let me burn for You again, let me return to You again!
And, Lord, let me burn for You again, let me return to You again!

God, I’m running for Your heart, I’m running for Your heart
Till I am a soul on fire, till I am a soul on fire, till I am a soul on fire.

TAKE ME IN by Dave Browning
Take me past the outer courts
into the holy place
Past the brazen altar:
Lord, I want to see your face!

Pass me by the crowds of people,
The priests who sing your praise!
I hunger and thirst for your righteousness,
And it’s only found in one place—

So take me into the Holy of Holies,
Take me in by the blood of the Lamb.
Take me into the Holy of Holies,
Take the coal, cleanse my lips! Here I am.

THE LION AND THE LAMB by Brenton Brown, Brian Johnson, & Leeland Mooring
He’s coming on the clouds! Kings and kingdoms will bow down
And every chain will break, as broken hearts declare His praise.
For who can stop the Lord Almighty?

Our God is the Lion, The Lion of Judah!
He’s roaring with power and fighting our battles
And every knee will bow before Him!
Our God is the Lamb, the Lamb that was slain
For the sins of the world. His blood breaks the chains,
And every knee will bow before the Lion and the Lamb,
Every knee will bow before Him!

So open up the gates, make way before the King of kings
The God who comes to save is here to set the captives free!
For who can stop the Lord Almighty?

Who can stop the Lord Almighty? Who can stop the Lord?

THE POWER OF THE CROSS by Keith Getty
Oh, to see the dawn of the darkest day,
Christ on the road to Calvary,
Tried by sinful men, torn and beaten, then
Nailed to a cross of wood!

This the power of the cross: Christ became sin for us,
Took the blame, bore the wrath—
We stand forgiven at the cross.

Oh, to see the pain written on your face,
Bearing the awesome weight of sin!
Every bitter thought, every evil deed
Crowning your bloodstained brow.

Now the daylight flees, now the ground beneath
Quakes as its Maker bows His head.
Curtain torn in two, dead are raised to life,
“Finished!” the vict’ry cry!

Oh, to see my name written in the wounds
For through your suffering I am free.
Death is crushed to death, life is mine to live
Won through your selfless love!

This the power of the cross: Son of God slain for us,
What a love! What a cost! We stand forgiven at the cross.

THERE IS A DAY by Lou Fellingham (Spring Harvest)
There is a day that all creation’s waiting for,
A day of freedom and liberation for the earth,
And on that day, the Lord will come to meet His bride.
And when we see Him, in an instant we’ll be changed.

The trumpet sounds, and the dead will then be raised,
By his power, never to perish again.
Once only flesh, now clothed with immortality.
Death has now been swallowed up in victory!

We will meet him in the air
and then we will be like him,
For we will see Him as he is.
Oh, yeah!

Then all hurt and pain will cease,
and we’ll be with Him forever,
And in His glory we will live. Oh yeah! Oh yeah!

So lift your eyes, to the things as yet unseen.
That will remain now for all eternity.
Though trouble’s hard, it’s only momentary
And it’s achieving our future glory.

WE WILL STAND by Russ Taff, Tori Taff, and James Hallifhan
You’re my brother, you’re my sister,
so take me by the hand.
Together we will work until He comes.
There’s no foe that can defeat us
when we’re walking side by side;
As long as there is love, we will stand.

WHAT CAN I DO? by Paul Baloche and Graham Kendrick
When I see the beauty of a sunset’s glory,
Amazing artistry across the evening sky,
When I feel the mystery of a distant galaxy,
It awes and humbles me
To be loved by a God so high.

What can I do but thank You?
what can I do but give my life to You?
Hallelujah, hallelujah!
What can I do but praise You,
every day make everything I do
A hallelujah, a hallelujah, hallelujah?

When I hear the story of a God of mercy
Who shared humanity and suffered by our side,
Of the cross they nailed You to, that could not hold You?
Now You’re making all things new
By the power of Your risen life.

With a thankful heart And a song of praise
We’ve come to You, gathered in this place;
For the things You’ve done and for Who You are
We worship You With a thankful heart.

So we lift up our praise
And we lift up our sacrifice to You.
Lord, we offer our prayers
And we offer our lives in gratitude.
For all You do,
We worship You
With a thankful heart.

With a thankful heart We will give You praise
You’ve been so good Covered us with grace
You have been our Strength In a time so dark
So we worship You With a thankful heart.

YOUR GRACE FINDS ME by Matt Redmond
It’s there in the newborn’s cry,
It’s there in the light of every sunrise,
It’s there in the shadows of this light—Your great grace.

It’s there on the mountaintop,
It’s there in the everyday and the mundane,
There in the sorrow and the dancing—
Your great grace, oh, such grace!

From the creation to the cross,
Then from the cross into eternity,
Your grace finds me, yes, Your grace finds me.

It’s there on a wedding day,
There in the weeping by the graveside,
There in the very breath we breathe—Your great grace.

Same for the rich and poor,
Same for the saint and for the sinner,
Enough for this whole wide world—
Your great grace, oh, such grace!

There in the darkest night of the soul,
There in the sweetest songs of victory,
Your grace finds me, yes, Your grace finds me.

Your great grace, oh, such grace!
Your great grace, oh, such grace!

So I’m breathing in Your grace
And I’m breathing out Your praise.
I’m breathing in Your grace,
Forever I’ll be breathing in Your grace.
And I’m breathing out Your praise,
I’m breathing in Your grace
And I’m breathing out Your praise,
Breathing in Your grace, for our God, for our God!

Yes, Your grace finds me, yes, Your grace finds me.
